Georgia Justice Project Awarded $200,000 Neighborhood Builder Grant from Bank of America
On October 28th at a reception at the Atlanta History Center, Bank of America Charitable Foundation announced $450,000 in flexible funding and leadership training to local metro Atlanta nonprofits through its Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, bringing the bank's total commitment in Atlanta through the program to $3.15 million since 2004.
The initiative continues to help hundreds of the nation's most impactful nonprofits improve their long-term viability and bolster leadership strength, retain and hire new staff, and extend the depth and reach of their services - capabilities that are integral to community revitalization and critcal in the current economy when nonprofit funding is down and demand for services is up.
Georgia Justice Project and Atlanta Victim Assistance were names the two 2010 Metro Atlanta Neighborhood Builders®, the nonprofit category of the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative. The organizations, headquartered in downtown Atlanta, will each receive $200,000 in unrestricted grant funding and participate in Bank of America's Neighborhood Excellence Leadership Program® with other nonprofit leaders from 44 communities across the country and from London.

August 2010 - Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation Investment
Georgia Justice Project received a 2-year, $150,000 grant from the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation for support of its Coming Home Program. The gift will support our efforts to raise awareness among various stakeholder groups of the collateral consequences of an arrest or conviction in Georgia. In addition, the gift will provide support to GJP as we work for smart legislative changes that can impact the millions of people with a criminal record in Georgia who are trying to get on with their lives. February 2008 - Defender of Justice, Deborah Poole receives 2007 Civil Rights Activist Award
Deborah Poole, Senior Attorney for Georgia Justice Project, nationally recognized innovative non-profit that provides legal representation coupled with comprehensive social services to ensure justice for poor individuals criminally accused in Atlanta, Georgia. Deborah received the 2007 R. E. Thomas Civil Rights Award, at the Atlanta Bar Association headquarters in February, 2008.
April 2007 - GJP Wins Community Service Award
The Georgia Justice Project was selected as the 2007 recipient of the Carl V. Patton President's Award for Community Service and Social Action for best community partner. GJP receives this award because of the partnership it has forged with the internship programs of the Georgia State's Law School, Department of Criminal Justice, School of Social Work and relationship with the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. June 2006 - Doug Ammar Honored with Evelyn G. Ullman Innovative Leadership Award
Georgia Justice Project is pleased to announce that our Executive Director, Doug Ammar, is the 2006 recipient of the Evelyn G. Ullman Innovative Leadership Award. May 2006 - Annie E. Casey Foundation honors Georgia Justice Project
The Georgia Justice Project is honored to be selected as an Honoree by the Annie E. Casey Foundation in its 2006 Families Count: The National Honors Program. GJP is one of three organizations in the country to receive the Award this year.
