Nearly 500,000 children in Georgia live in utter poverty. Because of this, a staggering number live with the fear that someone in their family will be arrested. This cycle of poverty and crime puts kids at tremendous risk for substance abuse, gang involvement, and all too often truancy. Education is the winning ticket out of this devastating cycle for these at-risk children.
For more than twenty years, Georgia Justice Project has led the fight to break the cycle of poverty, crime and violence for families.
At BACK-2-SCHOOL 2008, at-risk students and their families gathered at a positive social event to receive free school supplies and educational resources needed to meet and exceed their academic goals.
