Programs EMPLOYMENT
Employment is critical to the success of GJP clients and our low recidivism rates. That is why, for many years, we operated our own landscaping company (NHL) to give clients a paycheck, work experience, and on-the-job training. But with changes in the economy (and the lawn service business) in recent years, we have had to close NHL and redirect our resources toward a broader approach to employment support. GJP's WorkMatters program is a comprehensive effort to remove the many barriers that our clients have to employment. Led by a job developer and our social services team, and supported by partnerships at nonprofits and small-businesses around the city, WorkMatters serves more GJP clients (including women) than NHL did, and is more cost-effective.
