Women's Career Development Seminar

Thank you for making the seminar a SUCCESS!

Over the years, we have found out that our female clients face unique challenges in finding and keeping a job. Without access to a livable wage, women, who are often the sole breadwinners for their families, struggle to provide for their children and themselves. This reason propelled GJP to offer a brand new seminar to support and guide our female clients.

The week-long seminar series, held during the week of October 27th through the 31st, equipped the women with the practical skills and real resources necessary to secure a job and further pursue career opportunities that will enrich their lives and the lives of their families for years to come.  The career development seminar was held in GJP offices and welcomed women from different backgrounds as well as age.

The attendees were able to meet with presenters Ingrid Hayes, Associate Vice President at Spellman College, Tonya Patterson, Director of operations at Benevolink, Jocelyn Nelson, Assistant General Manager for Jones Lang LaSalle and many other inspirational professional women. Workshop topics included: Principles of Professionalism, Writing an Effective Resume, Interview Successfully, and The Value of Hard Work and Dedication.

The participants received a first class resume, business cards, organizers/planners, and a professional salon makeover and new business attire to bolster their new image. All of the women left feeling confident, and empowered with a positive support network of women.

**We would like to thank workshop presenters for their support and involvement:  Delia Champion, founder of The Flying Biscuit, Ingrid W. Hayes of Spelman College, Jocelyn Nelson of Jones Lang LaSalle, Tonya Patterson from Benevolink, and Nell Diallo of Med Share.   We would also like to thank Ashley Sanchez from Volt Staffing, and Moe Coles and the staff of Attitudes by Moe Hair Salon, for partnering their services for this great effort.
