Georgia Justice Project held its Grass Roots Justice Awards on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the picturesque Greystone Hall in Piedmont Park. This year we honored Mark V. Holden, General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Koch Industries, Inc.
Koch Industries is a parent company of Georgia-Pacific, and Mark has been leading Koch’s criminal justice reform efforts across the country. Koch’s priorities include ensuring that indigent defendants receive adequate legal counsel, reducing criminal liabilities for inadvertent violations, and restoring rights to youthful and non-violent offenders to help them re-enter the job market after their release.
Our special guest for the evening was attorney and author, David Windecher, who shared his personal story of going from a gang member to a lawyer. David is a criminal defense attorney in Atlanta, and author of The American Dream: HisStory In The Making. To see David Windecher share his story at the 2016 Grass Roots Justice Awards, click here.
