GJP held our 2nd Annual Lobby Day on Thursday, March 6, 2014. We would like to thank the 125 plus attendees from many parts of Georgia who participated and were given the opportunity to thank legislators for their Criminal Justice Reform efforts and encourage them to support SB 365. Our presence was felt and our voices were heard.
Special thanks to our friends at Central Presbyterian Church for allowing GJP to use their space for the day, Pastor Gary Charles, Pastor Kenneth Glasgow, Jay Neal, GJP Board, staff, and our wonderful interns and volunteers. We are so grateful for your support of GJP’s work and for your contributions to this event. We know that its success resonated with legislators.
GJP board member Marbury Rainer, of Parker Hudson Rainer & Dobbs was in attendance and offers this comment:
“Although I was unable to attend the whole Lobby Day, I was able to break from a meeting to attend the closing remarks and lunch at Central Presbyterian Church. The enthusiasm of the crowd and speakers was infectious. I was amazed at the number of people in attendance and their knowledge of and obvious concern for the issues involved in criminal justice reform and SB 365 in particular. GJP is in the forefront of a very important movement, and it was obvious that the work and leadership of Doug, Marissa and the whole staff was recognized and much appreciated by speakers and attendees alike. I left more convinced more than ever of the importance and significance of our policy work and the future of GJP as a significant player in meaningful reform.”
