Georgia Justice Project is pleased to welcome Norman (“Norm”) M. Brothers, Jr., UPS Legal Department Manager, as its new Board Chair for Fiscal Year 2016. Brothers joined the Georgia Justice Project Board in 2010 and succeeds Joel Neuman, Vice President and Senior Managing Counsel of Coca-Cola North America, as Chair.
“I’m proud to lead GJP’s Board of Directors and enthusiastically support a local organization that is nationally recognized for innovation and impact in the area of criminal justice reform. GJP leads the way in advocating positive, common-sense changes to the law that break down barriers to employment and housing to help people who want to get on with their lives and support their families,” said Brothers.
Brothers has responsibility for the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the UPS Global Legal Department. He reports to UPS’s General Counsel and manages UPS’s lawyers and support staff worldwide. Prior to his role as Department Manager, he led diverse legal practice areas at UPS including Litigation, Corporate, Business Development, Regulatory Compliance and International. Brothers also managed the Global Privacy team and the Office of the Corporate Secretary. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Georgia Bar; is a member of the Law and Judiciary Committee of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce; and is a member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2015. Prior to joining the UPS Legal Department, he served on active duty as a Captain in the U.S. Army where he was a military prosecutor in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He practiced in Atlanta at the law firm King & Spalding. Brothers received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his law degree from the Emory University School of Law.
