Anna Blitz has been hired as the Director of Legal Services.Ms. Blitz will oversee all aspects of GJP’s legal services including criminal defense, criminal records restriction, and policy advocacy in Atlanta and Macon, Georgia. Ms. Blitz will also maintain a caseload of clients facing all types of charges and supervise staff and volunteer attorneys and student interns.
“We are thrilled to have Anna on the staff at the Georgia Justice Project,” said Douglas Ammar, Executive Director. “She will bring critical experience and wisdom to the role of Legal Director.”
Ms. Blitz comes to GJP with more than 20 years experience as a criminal defense attorney.Most recently at the Federal Defender Program Inc., Blitz has also been in private practice and at the Fulton County Public Defender’s office.She received her Juris Doctor degree from Georgia State University College of Law.
“GJP’s ability to provide outstanding legal representation to the indigent criminally accused and to also provide its clients with social services is a winning combination,” said Blitz.“I know it will be a rewarding experience to contribute to this organization.”
Blitz’s professional and civic involvement has centered around the law and equal justice. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Innocence Project and as a volunteer at the Truancy Intervention Project.
Ms. Blitz will be an asset to Georgia Justice Project, increasing the number of clients GJP serves and ensuring that all clients receive high quality service so they can live healthy productive lives.
