On May 23rd, Georgia Justice Project was awarded a $1000 grant for general funding by the Enterprise Holdings Foundation. Karen “Mackie” McGrath, who requested the grant on GJP’s behalf, stopped by GJP last month with a large check in tow to celebrate the occasion.
We first got to know Mackie at our September 2017 Employer Roundtable. She was active in the roundtable discussion, and was clearly passionate about hiring individuals with a criminal record. We then asked her to be part of GJP’s employer panel at the Dave’s Killer Bread Foundation’s Second Chance Summit in October 2017. At this event, Mackie provided key advice on how to communicate with your organization’s leadership on the benefits of hiring individuals with a record. She remains a resource for GJP in shaping our policy agenda and hosting future employer events.
Thank you Enterprise for your generous donation, and thank you Mackie for your continued support of GJP! It is donors and supporters like you that make our work possible.
