Last Friday, Georgia Justice Project joined an informal Legislative Occupational Licensing Taskforce for a second meeting around reducing barriers to licensing opportunities for Georgians with a criminal record. The taskforce is led by Senator Brian Strickland (R-McDonough) and was hosted by Representative Patty Bentley (D-Butler) who is herself a licensed funeral home director. Georgia Justice Project (GJP) is excited to announce the launch of Restorative Justice Georgia (RJG) – the first restorative justice program in the state that will utilize innovative and rehabilitative processes to address harms caused by felony offenses. This week, GJP held another annual Back-to-School drive for the children of our clients! Each year, GJP gives backpacks stuffed with required school supplies to the school-age children of our client families, to make sure they are prepared for the upcoming school year.
