This week, GJP held another annual Back-to-School drive for the children of our clients!

Each year, GJP gives backpacks stuffed with required school supplies to the school-age children of our client families, to make sure they are prepared for the upcoming school year. As a precaution against COVID-19, GJP continues to hold these events in a drive-thru format to keep our families, staff and interns as safe as possible. This year, we were able to provide backpacks for over 160 kids and counting!

Education is a vital part of lifting families out of poverty and paving a brighter future for their children. Purchasing school supplies can be a significant expense for our families; some simply cannot afford it. For the past 19 years, GJP’s Back to School Initiative has been one of the ways we provide social services support for our clients as part of our holistic model, helping to set up our families for success after an encounter with the criminal legal system. This event is also an important opportunity for GJP staff to stay connected with our clients
