Yesterday, we had a ribbon cutting for the opening of the Athens Second Chance Desk! This Desk is in partnership with the Athens- Clarke County Solicitor’s office and the Western Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s office. Appointments will be held the last Thursday of every month. Last week, GJP staff and interns travelled to the Civil Rights Memorial & Legacy Museum in Montgomery, AL (an annual tradition). This is a remarkable opportunity for our staff and interns to learn and reflect on the legacy of slavery in the South, and how that legacy still rears its head in our modern-day criminal justice system.
